Food and Accommodation

A 11,000 sq. ft. girls' hostel besides the academic block  has been inaugarated on 6th August 2012 for accomodation of 42 girls students. This facility provides fully furnished rooms with attached bathrooms (2 seater and 3 seater), canteen, large dining hall furnished to accomodate 32 diners at a time, kitchen, common living area fitted with LCD TV, terrace, microwave ovens, refrigerator, water coolers and purifiers, ironing table, irons, recreational facilities like carom etc. and professional round the clock security service.

At Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM- Kolkata) fooding and Boarding is not mandatory, one can stay in hostel or PG at his own cost, approximate cost for Fooding and Lodging will comes upto 2 Lakh for 2 years. For people residing in kolkata it is not mandatory.

The Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM) is a premier Autonomous Business School in Kolkata, India. It is the first institute in Asia to offer an MBA degree. It was established in 1953. IISWBM is often regarded as one of the finest b School of the eastern part of the country after XLRI and IIM Calcutta. India's first b-School, IISWBM, is a name that weighs abundant in legacy. From the choicest alumni bandwagon to the grandeur of the building stature at the educational hub of kolkata, the institute 'is' stately in ways more than one was constituted on 25th April 1953 by a resolution passes by the Senate of the University of Calcutta.

The foundation stone of one was laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the First Prime Minister of India and the other by Dr. B. C. Roy, the famous Chief Minister of West Bengal. Created in response to a strongly felt need of independent India. This was the culmination of the joint initiative taken by the University of Calcutta, Government of West Bengal, Government of India and the captians of industry to set up for the first time a management education institute in India, a concept alien to many educational fraternity at that time. The institute has successfully crossed its diamond jubilee year, signifying over 66 years of eventful journey in management education in India.

IIWSBM was thus established by Dr. B. C. Roy, the then chief minister of West Bengal as its founder President Prof. D.K. Sanyal as the founder Director. Government of India, Department of Posts in recognition of 50 years of glorious existence of the first B-School in the country, released a Commemorative Postage Stamp on IISWBM, 25 April 2004 in New Delhi.

IISWBM is a well known B-School in India, this is one of the oldest b school. Some of the key highlights are :

Admissions & Cut-Offs

Graduates in any professional course, Honours or equivalent candidate from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ ST/ NC-OBC/ PwD) in graduations. Those who will be appearing for the final examination in 2019 may also apply.

Apart from Above academic criteria IISBM accept CAT score, estimated cutoff comes around 70%ile, although First list comes at 80 percentile

Some of the events organized by the IISWBM college are:-

  1. INSIGHT:-' 'Insight', the annual corporate paneldiscussion, is an enriching experience for the students. It provides a platform for direct interaction between the students and the corporate leaders. Insight is segmented into 2 sections-- the morning session gives credence to Finance and marketing while the post-lunch session focuses on Human Resource and Data Analytics. The discussion throws light on different aspect of corporate industry.

  2. PARADIGM:-Paradigm is the annual Alumni meet. The event celebrates the homecoming of the illustrious alumni as well as it introduces the current students to the standards upheld by IISWBM. The former students, spread across the wide corporate world, cheerfully come back to embrace their roots again. Admist the stories and laughter which celebrates the past and the present, everyone is eager to look forward to a greater future of the alma mater and are working collectively towards.

  3. MANAGEREAL:-Managereal is the exuberant inter-college fest organised by the Events Committee and the four clubs- Verkoop, Finvestec, Abhisharan and Resonance. Every year students from various renowned colleges are invited to participate in the events which put the knowledge, skill and attitude of tomorrow's manager to test. Clubs organize individual games and activities on a common selected theme. Debates, dance and musical performances add to the ambience. The fest allows the exchange of ideas and views in a fun and friendly competitive environment.

  4. CROSSROADS:-The alumni committee of IISWBM organises this event. The entire programme is thoughtfully divided into various segments. Each segment is devoted to one particular domain such as HR, Finance, Data Analytics, Operations, Marketing and entrepreneurship. Distinguished alumni member from each domain are invited to speak on their area of expertise and current trends of their fields. Students also participate in activities involving team building, quiz based on Finance, puzzles based on Analytics, virtual supply chain management games, B-plan and JAM Marketing.

  5. MAARG:-'Maarg' is a socio-marketing initiative where the students associate with an NGO to connect with underprivileged children of our society. A fun filled day is arranged for them at our college premises with activities such as magic shows, games, movie screening and greeting card making competition. Social Welfare is embedded deeply into the DNA of IISWBM. 'Maarg' is an extension of the ethos which encourages us to give back to the society foe further empowerment of our country's youth.

  6. KRIDA:-The annual sports event of IISWBM has been a hit ever since its inception, with each year only raising the bar of the quality higher. There is thorough participation from all the departments of the college including MBA (day & evening), MHRM, MBA-Public Service, Sports Management and even from the alumni team and Director's team. The sporting events are football, volleyball, throw ball, tug of war (male, female and mixed) and kabaddi. The two days observes grat involvement from both the participants and the audience, giving a break to the hectic study schedule.
