Admissions & Cut-Offs

Graduates or Final year students passing out in 2019 with a valid CAT / XAT or MAT score are eligible to apply. Candidates without a score will need to appear for the BIBSAT examination. Final Selection will be done after Personal Interview for all applicants.

  • To be a part of  BIBS a candidate is required to maintain at least 50 percent in X, XII and Grad.
  • Along with that a valid CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT score is also required.
  • If a candidate has not appeared for any of the entrance exams he/she is required to appear for the BIBSAT.

  • USP (The Ultimate Startup Plan) - U.S.P aims at providing the students with the unique opportunity of creating their own business ventures. Students in groups create a product or service that they plan to launch as an Entrepreneurial startup. Evaluation of U.S.P is done by some of the most high profile venture capitalist, angel investors and entrepreneurs of the country.

  • Aspire 2 Achieve (A2A) - Aspire 2 Achieve (A2A) is an exciting competition that empowers every student at Bengal Institute of Business Studies (BIBS) to practice and enhance the key skills that today’s industries demand in their managers. A2A has been designed to ensure that every student gets the opportunity to become smart communicators with superb analytical and presentation skills.

  • Management Guest Inspire Series - MGIS – BIBS has a tie-up with The Times of India for this programme. We have had more than 30 MGIS sessions with 200+ corporate leaders across industries including dignitaries like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Chetan Bhagat and Kapil Dev to name a few.

  • Passport - A Group Discussion Competition that imparts G.D skills which are of great importance in their Placements. The competition develops the key skills of students like Speaking, Communication Skills, Team Work and the ability to think on their feet when faced with a challenging situation.   • OLE – Outbound Learning Experience - The theme of the annual Outbound Learning Experience at BIBS is 'work and play' that brings work and play together. OLE! Is a day trip to an open location, where students enjoy a day of fun-filled management activities in the form of a team-based contest OLE! It involves a series of timed competitions that test endurance, speed, ingenuity, creativity and co-ordination where the team with the maximum points emerges the winner.

  • CEO Conclave 2016 - It is an event which is used to organize by Bengal Institute of Business Studies once in a year. Students sometimes need some live inspiration which they can use to keep themselves enthusiastic to achieve something big in their lives and this event gives them exactly that opportunity. Stalwarts of the corporate world were there to glitter this occasion. Not only the students but their parents were also invited to attend this event.

  • Convocation - This is the day that all students work hard for. Two years of grit, determination, effort, toiling and perseverance for the rewards on offer on the Convocation Day. It is when the dreams take flight. When you get the return of your efforts in the form of your degree.

  • BIBS Got Talent - BIBS got Talent or BGT as it is popularly known, is a platform for the BIBS Students to showcase their extra-curricular talent. This annual one-day program is a plethora of activities ranging from Choreographed Dance to rock shows to solo acts to skits and a host of other activities presented by students individually or in groups.

  • City Scan - This event a live outdoor learning assignment for BIBS Students. They are given various market segments like Fresh Produce, Grains and Pulses, Electronics and others for which they have to research the available markets for the same in and around Kolkata and submit a presentation on the finer details about the working of the segment ranging from Branding, Marketing.

“It’s my greatest pleasure that I’m representing India, a country of 130 crore...

“It’s my greatest pleasure that I’m representing India, a country of 130 crore individuals in the world stage and this pushes me every day, even after 17 years of my cricket career to give my best,” Said the former captain of Indian Women’s National Cricket Team and the most successful female bowler Ms. Jhulan Goswami in an interactive session with the BIBS student on 2nd August. The event started with felicitating Ms. Goswami. Our chairman Mr. Vidur Kapoor did so. Then she was asked to share her inspiring life story with us. Her interest in sports was evident from a very young age, but being a small-town girl and the eldest child of her family, she was also expected to continue her academic career in a formal way. But as known to all, talent always finds a way to express itself, this way or that, she started playing cricket just for fun all by herself without any training. In 1997, after watching the live match between Australia and New Zealand in women’s cricket world cup at Eden Gardens, she came to know about the Indian Women’s Cricket team for the very first time and started dreaming of playing for them one day. She narrated the inspiring story of her struggles in the early days, she said: “at the age of 15 when everyone wants to choose a safe side in career, I took the risk”. She shared the story of how she used to save money from the grocery shopping and used to take up a five and a half hours journey from Chakdah to reach the practice ground.

Her coach Mr. Swapan Sadhu has always been very encouraging towards her but strict at times too, he was the one to teach her to utilize the maximum time in order to get something fruitful out of it. He was the one to convince Jhulan Goswami’s parents to let her play and the sternness he showed towards her, she says has boosted up her confidence, as to put in her words, “expectations are always made by yourself. Nobody forces it on you. The expectations that my coach and parents have on me, I have to respect that and I know if I have set my expectations high, I have to level up my performances according to it.” There were times when she was at the verge of giving up, like in 1997 when she didn’t get selected for Under 19 Bengal Women’s Cricket Team she lost all hopes, and the time in 2013 when she was having really bad injuries and couldn’t perform well and even during 2017 world cup where she realized she is not in her full form and is incapable of giving her 100 percent and even asked her coach to drop her, but at times like this she has always bounced back in competition with her will power and attitude. As she said, “attitude is most important, if you have the right attitude, even if you fail, you will find a way to rise up once again.” The mantra she follows in her life is the 3D’s: “Discipline that will always guide you throughout your life. The determination that will help you to find a solution in tough times and Dedication.” Struggles had always been a part of her life, in the initial days of her cricket life they even had to travel in unreserved train, sitting Infront of the toilet because cricket association didn’t have the fund to reserve seats and not to mention the criticizations of the society about girls playing cricket. But the passion to play for Indian Cricket Team and the desire to prove herself was enough to keep her going. She overcame all the challenges life threw at her and is still doing that. Now she holds the record of the highest wicket-taker in ODI’s, that is 217. Her dream is to make a very strong identity of Indian women’s cricket team and to do so, Indian Women’s Cricket Team needs a concrete separate stage. She advised everyone to engage themselves in any type of physical activity and signed off saying, “Everyone of you present here, always try to give your hundred percent performance in your field, so that you never have to look back and don’t be afraid of failure. When you fail, you learn new things and you come back even more strong. That is what sports have taught me, and I want you all to maintain it.” This was followed by a question and answer session and the event ended with gifting her a small memento and thanking her for the wonderful session.

How to reach

  • Kolkata is well connected through Air and Railway from all over India.
  • By Train, you need to get down at Sealdah Junction or Howrah Junction and take the service of Ola or Uber. It is around 9.3 KM from Sealdah Junction (24 minutes journey) and around 12.7 KM from Howrah Junction (29 minutes journey)
  • From Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Dum Dum, Kolkata to BIBS is around 23.4 KM, it will take around 39 minutes in normal Traffic to reach BIBS.
  • BIBS is 10 minutes from Rashbihari and the nearest Metro is Kalighat. It is located just opposite to Priya Cinema Hall.
