A 11,000 sq. ft. girls' hostel besides the academic block has been inaugarated on 6th August 2012 for accomodation of 42 girls students. This facility provides fully furnished rooms with attached bathrooms (2 seater and 3 seater), canteen, large dining hall furnished to accomodate 32 diners at a time, kitchen, common living area fitted with LCD TV, terrace, microwave ovens, refrigerator, water coolers and purifiers, ironing table, irons, recreational facilities like carom etc. and professional round the clock security service.
At Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM- Kolkata) fooding and Boarding is not mandatory, one can stay in hostel or PG at his own cost, approximate cost for Fooding and Lodging will comes upto 2 Lakh for 2 years. For people residing in kolkata it is not mandatory.
The Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM) is a premier Autonomous Business School in Kolkata, India. It is the first institute in Asia to offer an MBA degree. It was established in 1953. IISWBM is often regarded as one of the finest b School of the eastern part of the country after XLRI and IIM Calcutta. India's first b-School, IISWBM, is a name that weighs abundant in legacy. From the choicest alumni bandwagon to the grandeur of the building stature at the educational hub of kolkata, the institute 'is' stately in ways more than one was constituted on 25th April 1953 by a resolution passes by the Senate of the University of Calcutta.
The foundation stone of one was laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the First Prime Minister of India and the other by Dr. B. C. Roy, the famous Chief Minister of West Bengal. Created in response to a strongly felt need of independent India. This was the culmination of the joint initiative taken by the University of Calcutta, Government of West Bengal, Government of India and the captians of industry to set up for the first time a management education institute in India, a concept alien to many educational fraternity at that time. The institute has successfully crossed its diamond jubilee year, signifying over 66 years of eventful journey in management education in India.
IIWSBM was thus established by Dr. B. C. Roy, the then chief minister of West Bengal as its founder President Prof. D.K. Sanyal as the founder Director. Government of India, Department of Posts in recognition of 50 years of glorious existence of the first B-School in the country, released a Commemorative Postage Stamp on IISWBM, 25 April 2004 in New Delhi.
IISWBM is a well known B-School in India, this is one of the oldest b school. Some of the key highlights are :
Graduates in any professional course, Honours or equivalent candidate from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ ST/ NC-OBC/ PwD) in graduations. Those who will be appearing for the final examination in 2019 may also apply.
Apart from Above academic criteria IISBM accept CAT score, estimated cutoff comes around 70%ile, although First list comes at 80 percentile
