Food and Accommodation

Each Hostel in the Institute is self-contained with amenities such as a reading room, an indoor games room, a lounge and a dining hall with mess. There are thirteen Student Hostels at IIT Delhi are named after the mountain ranges of India. The eleven Boys’ Hostels and two Girls’ Hostels house.

About Indian Institute Of Technology (IIT- Delhi)

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi or IITD) is a public engineering institution located in Hauz Khas, Delhi, India. Established in 1961, was formally inaugurated August 1961 by Prof. Humayun Kabir, Minister of Scientific Research & Cultural Affairs. The institute was later decreed in Institutes of National Importance under the Institutes of Technology Amendment Act, 1963 and accorded the status of a full University with powers to decide its own academic policy, to conduct its own examinations, and to award its own degrees. In 2018 IIT Delhi was also given the status of Institution of Eminence (IoE) by Government of India which granted almost-full autonomy, leaving this institute to make its own decisions. In 1993 the Department was brought into existence by amendment to IIT (D) statutes.the Department of Management Studies launched MBA programs in 1997. The department currently runs a two year full time MBA program (General and with focus on Telecommunication Systems Management) and a three year part time MBA program (with focus on Technology Management).

The concept of IIT was first introduced by Sh. N.M.Sircar, then member of Education on Viceroy's executive council. Following his recommendations, the first Indian Institute of Technology was established in the year 1950 in Kharagpur. In his report, Shri Sircar had suggested that such Institutes should also be started in different parts of the country.Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati was established in 1994 and the University of Roorkee was converted into an IIT in 2001. H.R.H. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh during his visit to India, laid the foundation stone of the college at Hauz Khas on 28 January 1959. The first admissions were made in 1961. The College of Engineering & Technology was registered on 14 June 1960 under the Societies Registration Act No. XXI of 1860 (Registration No. S1663 of 1960–61). The students were asked to report at the college on 16 August 1961, and the college was formally inaugurated on 17 August 1961 by Humayun Kabir, Minister of Scientific Research & Cultural Affairs. Initially, the college ran in the Kashmiri Gate campus of Delhi College Of Engineering (now known as Delhi Technological University) before shifting to its permanent campus in Hauz Khas.

Following Are The Admission Cutoffs Criteria for Indian Institute Of Technology (IIT- Delhi OR IITD)

MBA:-

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or 6.00 CGPA on a 10 point scale or equivalent in the qualifying degree.
  • A relaxation of 5% in marks (i.e. min. 55%) or equivalent in CGPA (i.e. min. 5.50 on a 10-point scale) for the SC/ST candidates.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.

MBA- Foreign Students:-

  • 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or 6.00 CGPA on a 10 point scale (5.4 CGPA on 9.0 scale or 3.6 CGPA on 6.0 scale or 2.4 CGPA on 4.0 scale) in Bachelor’s Degree from approved universities / institutions of their respective nation.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.
  • Valid GMAT score.

Valid TOEFL score, if the medium of instruction for the qualifying degree is not in English.

Anti ragging

Anti-Ragging Policy at IIT- Delhi OR IITD

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT- Delhi OR IITD) follows very stringent rules and regulations for the conduct of the student behaviour in and off IIT Delhi Campus. Management does not entertain any kind of ragging or ragging related activities in the campus.

How to reach

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT- Delhi) - is Situated in A Well Connected Transport Facility Zone From Airport As Well As Railway Station.

  • IIT Delhi is to arrive at the Hauz Khas Metro Station (Yellow line), about 2.5 kms from IIT Delhi campus. At the Hauz Khas Metro station you can change for Magenta Line to reach IIT Delhi Metro Station.
  • IIT Delhi Metro Station is on the Magenta line (Terminal 1 of the IGI Airport is also on this line). Gate 1 is nearest to Academic Building and Girl’s Hostels. (Gate 5 of the R.K. Puram Metro Station, also on Magenta Line, is nearest to IIT Delhi Boy’s Hostels.)
  • 14 kms from New Delhi Railway Station
  • 21 kms from Old Delhi Railway Station
  • 14 kms from Hazrat Nizammudin Railway Station
  • 25 kms from Anand Vihar Railway Station & Bus Terminal
  • 25 kms from Kashmere Gate ISBT
  • 10 km from Indira Gandhi International Airport Domestic Terminal and 15 km from the International Terminal

Prepaid and metered Taxis are available from all major points of arrival. In addition, app-based cab services (Uber/Ola) have a strong presence and can be availed from almost anywhere within the city.
