Mount Carmel College is a premier institution for women’s education in India. Established in 1948, it is run by the sisters of the CSST order who are devoted to impart excellence in teaching, learning, and research. The college is affiliated to Bangalore University and re-accredited with an A+ Grade(4th Cycle) by NAAC. Ranked by India Today as one of the top three colleges in Karnataka in the fields of arts, science, and commerce.
Earlier, the college was associated with Mysore University, then it became a part of Madras University and later on, in 2005, the college was associated with Bengaluru University. In 2006, it was re-accredited with an A+ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The college began its first class with only 50 students. Over the years, the number of enrolments increased to over 5,000 students. In 1992, the college developed an Institute for Management Studies. The Commerce Department of the college is recognised as a Research Centre by Bengaluru University.

A candidate who has passed the three-year Degree course in any discipline from a recognized University and has secured not less than 50% of the marks in the aggregate of all the examinations of the program shall be eligible for admission.
In the case of SC/ST students and Physically Disabled students, the minimum percentage of marks required is 45% in the aggregate.

Extreme harassment, creating terror in the minds, and even physical torture of fresh students under the guise of ‘Campus Orientation’ and ‘College tradition’ is called ragging
Students involved in such obnoxious practices will be liable for rustication, dismissal and expulsion from the college, in addition to prosecution before the criminal courts. Ragging offences may also be stamped on academic transcripts and Marks Cards. We hold a Zero Tolerance Policy against ragging of any sort.
